Purpose. Priorities. Plans.

What's Next?

This is what we continually ask our partners, the community and each other. Building on three decades of success, Iowa West Foundation's strategic plan moving forward defines an even more powerful approach to building positive change. Our grant community has grown strong, allowing us to envision impact on a larger scale and to serve as a change agent for the region as we continue to fuel real progress right here.

We're digging deep into the daily challenges faced here with a goal of creating more opportunity for the whole community.

That means coordinated initiatives focused on 1)expanding the ways we learn and prepare our children for the future 2)making forward-focused decisions about how best to grow our city long-term 3)enhancing our communities in ways that make us proud to call them home, and 4)making the health of our families a priority in all of our plans. We believe that by transitioning our efforts to this initiatives-based strategy, the Iowa West Foundation along with our many partners is ready to shape a future we can all believe in.

In the spring and summer of 2017, Iowa West Foundation President & CEO Pete Tulipana kicked off a listening tour to hear what the citizens of Council Bluffs and Pottawattamie County had to say. He shared information about our initiatives and the impact of those investments, but more importantly listened to the community’s thoughts on where we should go next. The feedback helped us to define our role going forward as well as what strategic principles should guide our work. We want our investments to have a significant, lasting impact and thank you for your participation and input.

Attend a Grants Workshop

The purpose of Iowa West Foundation’s grant workshops is to help nonprofit organizations and government entities learn about our grant application process, understand Foundation priorities and ask staff questions to aid in the submission of strong proposals. Ideally, attendees come to the workshop with a specific program, capital project or use for operating funds in mind. There, they will have an opportunity to ask candid questions, view sample budgets, discuss due diligence and learn how to measure impact.
